savage beauties n' dark sides of the moons

i went to the alexander mcqueen: savage beauty exhibit at the met in NYC. (just got back from the city a couple days ago.. i can't wait to go again)

the exhibit was beautiful, and the closest i'll ever get to seeing a mcqueen dress. the highlight of the exhibit was a small glass pyramid with the kate moss hologram from the fall 2006 show dancing inside of it..  hypnotizing. 

the 2012 resort collections have come & gone quickly!! 

my favorite collection this time around is from christopher kane. no surprise.. his last two resortwear shows were kick-ass. THE BOMBS, THE GALAXIES

never really cared too much about katy perry, but my friend just showed me her new music video and it's pretty hilarious.

the outfits... as if i needed any more proof that the 80s are seeping their way back into our lives

big news:

the Mavs won the nba finals!! I'm so proud and so happy. dirk really deserved the championship (the first of several, i hope)

also.. JJ BAREA! Bringin' it home for the shorties!

I saw "super 8" the other night.

"the goonies", "jaws", and the indiana jones series are my favorite movies of all time - of all time - and "super 8" was pretty much a mishmash of Goonies + ET + Jaws (with other Spielberg-y elements included). 

go see the movie. see it for the kids, the suspense, for the seventies outfits/theme music. 

Elle Fanning was absolutely adorable in this movie - adorable in a badass sort of way, that is.

also, the chubby kid (whose name escapes me) seriously reminded me of le truffle shuffle. this is reason enough to go pay $9 at the theater

miss elle's becoming quite the little pre-teen presence in the fashion world at the moment. she's landed several editorials like this one, and apparently she's buddying up with kate and laura from rodarte now, too. love her eyes, their so fairytale-like.

the 80s strike back

so i pretty much have every element of this outfit (what to call it? suburban cali bubble-gum girl?) in my closet. except......

why oh why did i let my mother sell my disney princess skateboard in that garage sale back when i was seven?!

considering going to walmart right now (yes, at 2:30 am) to buy another skateboard. the outfit would be incomplete without one.

finals

i'm currently "studying" for chemistry and spanish finals tomorrow.

finals are alright. they suck, but they're alright.

to me, they're just one step closer to summer.

(oh, summer. where have you GONE?!?!)

so, i dyed my hair pink!

but it washed out.

hence, i'm trying again tomorrow.

i hated 80s movies. i liked watching black and white movies with my mom, and 90s movies were fine, but the 80s scared the shit out of me. now they're my favorite cinema decade (almost).
